Seeking student writers

by Staff Writer

The Working Waterfront/Inter-Island News is looking for motivated students to apply for our summer student writer program.
High school and college students in island and waterfront communities will write stories about all aspects of their towns for our Web site.
Students will work with a professional journalist, who will teach them the essentials of journalism. Students will pitch stories to the editor of The Working Waterfront, who will consider them for publication on our Web site. Students will be paid a small stipend for stories. This program offers students a chance to become more involved in their community as well as training in reporting and writing.
Please contact David Tyler at dtyler@islandinstitute.org or call 594-9206, ext. 109 if you are interested. Please include a cover letter explaining why you want to take part in this program and two writing samples. The deadline is June 12.
