Due to a reporting error, the article "Islands Coalition fosters two-way communication," (Working Waterfront, June 2008) incorrectly credited the Maine Islands Coalition with creating the Working Waterfront Coalition.  While the Maine Islands Coalition has examined and advocated for working waterfront issues and has a delegate to the Working Waterfront Coalition, the two groups were formed independently. The Working Waterfront Coalition was formed in 2003 by non-profit and industry representatives concerned about preserving access to the coast for marine-dependent industries. In 2005, the islands coalition partnered with the Working Waterfront Coalition to help the group pass current use taxation for working waterfronts.
