Vinalhaven residents gather to hear a presentation by State Hydrologist Andy Tolman. Tolman spoke about the island's water supply and the recent drought. The meeting was one of two Jan. 9 meetings sponsored by the Vinalhaven Comprehensive Planning Committee. Islanders were treated later in the evening to a chowder supper while they watched a demonstration of an impressive new Geographic Information Systems (computer mapping) database which was financed by the Vinalhaven Land Trust and will be used in the planning effort.
