The good life on Swan's Island

The perfect place to enjoy a long life

by Donna Wiegle

This short video, "Enjoying Retirement," tells the tale of Swan's Island's oldest resident, Earl Lowell. At age 95, he has been enjoying his retirement for more than 30 years on Swan's Island.
The video was produced by Swan's Island resident Donna Wiegle as part of her participation in the Boomer Reporting Corps, a series of workshops on citizen journalism offered by Encore Leadership Corps (ENCorps). ENCorps is coordinated by the University of Maine's Center on Aging and is available to Maine residents age 50 and older who care about Maine and want to give back through volunteer opportunities.
