Islesboro Central School's sixth grade science class was a Grand Prize winner in a contest sponsored by the Office of Substance Abuse and the Council on Children & Families on the theme "Think Most Kids Drink? Think Again." Science teacher Kathy Hayes's students listed 90 reasons why kids chose not to use alcohol. They were invited to the State House in Augusta for a press conference that unveiled a new television ad campaign featuring Maine children citing reasons they don't drink alcohol.
