North Haven’s Doreen Cabot to exhibit recent works

by Staff Writer

"Island Merriment," works by Doreen Brown Cabot of North Haven, will open at Waterman's Community Center (WCC), 12 Main Street, North Haven, on July 19 from 5-7 p.m. The exhibit will run from July 19 to Aug. 4 during business hours.

"Island Merriment" is a collection of recent works focusing on childhood memories and everyday life on North Haven. The colorful folk art paintings depict scenes of people departing and arriving on the ferry, going to the post office, fishing and working. Others include farm animals, children and familiar landmarks on the island.
For the past two summers Cabot has sold work at the North Haven Library Annual Art Exhibit. Outside her studio she is a member of the local school board and serves on committees for Waterman's Community Center, the Pulpit Harbor Foundation and the North Haven Bapitist Church. She is an avid gardener and takes care of her two young grandsons. Recently Cabot and her husband, Sam, have begun raising Boer goats, Katahdin sheep and laying hens.
