On Nov. 16, Great Cranberry Island residents were treated to the sight of an island landmark driving down the road. The Mountain View Inn, which housed a restaurant from the island's boardinghouse days in the 1920s, took about three hours to move a quarter-mile down the main road to its new home.

"IslandThe former inn was purchased from island resident Eva Galyean by the Great Cranberry Island Historical Society and will eventually serve as its new museum, more than doubling the current historical society space in the school building. For more information on the project, and to see an artist's rendering of the finished site, please go to http://gcihs.org. (Cherie Galyean photos)
